I was reading newspaper this morning about UN-backed court sentenced Duch to 30 years in prison for his role in overseeing the murders of some 15,000 people. See here for more details. One of the puzzling word that came across was “bludgeon”. The sentence goes something like: ” they will be brought to the Killing Field and bludgeon to death”

Little did I know what’s the meaning of “bludgeon” and found out that it is has a very distrubing meaning.

bludg·eon [bluhj-uhn]

-noun

1. short, heavy club with one end weighted, or thicker andheavier than the other

–verb (used with object)

2.  to strike or knock down with a bludgeon.

3. to force into something; coerce; bully: The boss finallybludgeoned him into accepting responsibility.
