1. What is the objective?

This might sound quite obvious, but think again! 5 to 10 years ago you would receive plenty of birthday cards; but today with SMS, e-cards, online social networking, how many physical cards do you still receive?

2. Think as the receiver.

You wouldn’t want to receive birthday card that has been used before wouldn’t you? Or a birthday card with its price label..

3. What is the message?

Wishing and congratulate the person? Sarcasm joke! Birthday is not only a special day but a commemoration that your parents (especially your mother) has given brought you into this world!

4. For who is it going to be?

Is it him? Her? Your love one? You irritating cousin? Your cruel colleague?

5. Whom is it from?

Personal card? A group of friends? As a company?

6. What does the person like?

It is important to know what the person like. What is his hobby? His profession? etc

7. Budget

Are you going to spend time money and time to create a custom-made card? Do you have enough time to create them? Are you just going to pick up one out of the shelves? There are many hand-made birthday cards available for sell.

8. Timing

This is often being over-look. Are you just going to wait until you remember that you had bought your daughter one? Or are you going to give when nobody is around?

9. How are you going to give?

Through someone else? By post? By hand? By helicopter? By your pet? By any other mean?

10. Be Different and personalize!

A birthday card doesn’t always be flat! Go 3d or pop up!
A birthday card doesn’t always be silent, put some music to it!
A birthday card doesn’t always be paper! A birthday card doesn’t always be square!
A birthday card doesn’t always be one! Send birthday cards instead!
A birthday card doesn’t always have to be standard! Go big! Or go real small!
